The Guu Izakaya Crew Sample Toronto’s Culinary Hot Spots

VICE‘s Munchies is a video series that explores firsthand the professional culinary world and the simple pleasures of food. Each episode involves renowned chefs or restaurateurs as they take off on gastronomic tours of the world’s foremost culinary cities — past features have included notables like Eddie Huang, Michael White and Anthony Bourdain. In this latest episode of Munchies, VICE follows Guu Izakaya Executive Chef — and friend of Staple Design — Masaru Ogasawara as he and his crew tour Toronto for some of the best cuisine the city has to offer. Included on the tour are stops at Italian restaurant Enoteca Sociale, the secret Toronto Temperance society, and an eventual return to Guu, where they end the night with self-cooked Japanese comfort food.
